At the Provincial Palliative Care Unit On Tuesday, October 28, 2014 of Sterling Bruce Pursey, Charlottetown, age 74 years. Best friend of Freda White. Dear father of Debbie Cormier (Mario). Loving Grampie of Amy and Ian. Brother of Roy (Noreen) and Merrill. Brother-in-law of Bob Younker (Gloria), George Younker (Sally) and David Younker (Marion). Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife H. Doris (nee Younker), by his parents Stanley G. and Lettie Mae (Ford) Pursey and by his siblings Wilma Pound (Fred) and Leonard. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Friday from Park Royal United Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Winsloe North Cemetery. Philip William Louis Quinn

1925 - 2018
The death occurred peacefully at his home in Winsloe, P.E.I. on Monday, May 28, 2018 of Philip William Louis Quinn, formerly of Entry Island, Magdalen Islands, age 93 years. Loving father of Craig (Audrey), Harry (Kim), Stanley (Libby), Carolyn and Edwin. Loving grandfather of Jarrett (Caroline), Nigel, April (Pierre-Luc), Dana (Bane), Alexander, Aleesha, Blair and great-grandfather of Nyema, Nolan and Emmy. He thought the world of his loving and wonderful caregivers Mary Ellen and Eunice. Predeceased by his wife Eleanor Quinn (nee Chenell), brother Ivan and infant children Danny and Debra. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at a later date on Entry Island. Interment in All Saints Church Cemetery, Entry Island. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society – PEI. The Charlottetown Branch No.1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

 

E. Reginald "Reg" Reid

1926 - 2008
The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday November 7, 2008 of Mr. Reginald “Reg” Reid of Charlottetown and formerly of Murray Harbour North age 82 years. 

Dear husband of the late Margaret [MacDonald] Reid. Beloved father of Barclay [Helene], Malcolm, Paula [John] Ling and Ann [Billy] Jameson. Reg is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Max, Caroline and Sam Reid; Reid, Malcolm and Jon Thomas Ling; Reggie, Maggie and Derek Jameson; sisters and brothers Ethel Sweeney, Priscilla Richards, Sterling Reid and Gordon [Margaret] Reid; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters Lloyd, Rena Stewart, Alexia King, Ivan, Gordon [infant brother], Stewart and Annie Reid. 

Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home until Tuesday afternoon then transferred to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at Sherwood Cemetery. 

If so desired, memorial tributes in Reg’s memory may be made to St Mark’s Presbyterian Church or Charity of Choice. 

Visiting hours at the funeral home on Monday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m.

Earle "Bruce" Riggs

1933 - 2014
At the QueenElizabethHospital on Sunday, February 1, 2015 of Earle “Bruce” Riggs, Charlottetown aged 81 years. Beloved husband of Beverely (Somers). Dear father of Janet Roach (Joe). Loving grandfather of Travis Roach (Laura Sherry). Brother of Betty Lowe and brother in law of Ferne Riggs. Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Earle and Gertrude (Paynter) Riggs, by his siblings Lois Fortin (Roger), Joyce Bowie (Ted), Carl, Ronnie, Barry, Doris Sherren (Doug) and by his brother in law Morven Lowe. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 2pm. Interment later in Breadalbane Cemetery. No visiting hours by request. Memorial donations may be made to Spring Park United Church or the Charlottetown Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion

John Vincent "Pud" Roach

Passed away peacefully Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the QEII Hospital.
Born in Charlottetown, January 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Captain James Owen Roach and Bridget Murnaghan.
Pud grew up in Charlotteown and attended Queen Square School, St. Dunstan's and Prince of Wales College. As a young man, he was a keen hockey player and won the Maritime Junior Hockey Championships with the Charlottetown Royals and the 1942 Halifax Canadiens. In 1962, he coached the Halifax Kingfishers in their epic series with the Ottawa Montagnards. He also played Scotian Reserve hockey.
Pud joined the Navy in Halifax and later worked at the Fleet Post Office, EMI Cossar's and the Halifax Housing Authority. He was a veteran of the Second World War and he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He enjoyed his cottage at Shad Bay and Rocky Point, P.E.I.; P.E.I.'s Annual Old Home Week horse races and winters in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Pud was predeceased by his parents, young brother, Michael, and brother Jim, who was killed in action in 1943.
He is survived by his wife, Erma (Andrew) of 72 years; his son, John (Brenda); and his daughter, Anna St. Clair; grandchildren Donnie (Kelly) St. Clair, Suzzette St. Clair, Jason Roach all of Halifax, and Susan (John) Rowe of Charlottetown; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. There will be visitation at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home, 35 Longworth Avenue, Charlottetown, on Saturday, September 15, from 1-3 p.m., followed by interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Peter's Road, Charlottetown.

Kenneth George Samuel Roberts

1931 - 2011
In his 80th year Ken passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Monday, November 7, 2011 with his wife and sons by his side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

A Korean War veteran, Ken resided with his wife Christina (Gallant) Turbide in Cornwall and at their summer residence in Mermaid.

He is survived by his wife, Chris, and sons, Derrick (Carole), Dollard Des Ormeaux, QC, Neil (Marlene) Verdun, QC, Randy (Ginette), Ste. Anne des Plaines, QC, Richard (Tracey), Brampton, ON, Samuel, Waterdown, ON, Michael (Jennifer), Wynndel, BC, Shawn, Montreal, QC, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents, Flora (Minchinton) and Samuel William Roberts and son, Kevin; brothers, Milton, Burton, Arthur, Lindsey; sisters, Ophelia, Gladys, Susanne, Vina and Bertha; his first wife and mother of his sons, Iris Langlois; and second wife, Norma MacDonnell.

No visitation or funeral by personal request, cremation has been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford.

George Edward II Robinson

1924 - 2009
George Edward Robinson II, 84 years of age, of Covehead and formerly of Robinsons Island, stepped into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on May 31, 2009 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.

Loving husband of Irene Joyce (nee Neat). Dedicated father of George Edward III, Eric Paul (Pattie), Stephen Mark (Sharon), Susan Joy (Sidney Newell) and Kevin Shawn (Sherry). Grandfather to twelve grandchildren and great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren. Brother of Lillian Stewart (late Waldo), Verna Younker (Omar), Dorothy MacLeod (Harold), Virden (late Eva MacDonald) and Gerald (Eleanor). Predeceased by his brother William Earl and his parents George Edward I and Bertha Mae (nee Vessey).

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, at 11 am. Interment in West Covehead Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 7-9 pm. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation of PEI would be appreciated.

William J. (Bill) Rooth

1923 - 2010
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of a beloved husband, father and grandad at the P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 after a lengthy illness at the age of 87 years. 

Beloved husband of Glenn (nee Smith) and father of Carl Rooth and Cynthia (Cindy) Riley. Father-in-law of Jan Rooth and Brian Riley. Cherished grandad of Michelle, Korey, Sherry, Mitchell and Cody. Great grandad to Tye, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Keeshon and Taymon. Brother of Gwen Logie and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was a Bell Canada Pioneer and a veteran of WWII. 

Bill is resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. 

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Grandfather of Daniel Steele (Becky), Mark Steele (Tiana), Derrick Simpson (Dani), Glen Steele (Jessica), April Steele (Brandon McCarron), Haley Steele (James), Jenna Steele (Jamie), Jessica (Jess Beamish), Eva Dawn Steele and great grandfather to eleven great grandchildren. Brother of John P. (deceased) (Jean), Bill (Marlene Clark deceased), Margaret (Bob) Huskins, Gary, David (deceased) (Susan), Tom (Florence), Eric (Erma), Kenny (deceased), Donald, Larry, Mary (deceased) and Rhonda (Mike) Redmond. Brother-in-law of Janet (Gary) MacDonald, Lynn Gilbert, Nancy Gilbert (Mark Cain), Glen Gilbert (Maureen) and Mark Gilbert (Heather). Danny is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his father John S. Rose in 1986 and his mother Ruby Rose in 2018. Thomas Edward Ross

1925 - 2010
A beloved father, husband, grandfather and proud soldier has returned home. The death occurred peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge in Eldon of Thomas Edward Ross CD formerly of Mermaid age 85 years. Thomas was born in Riverside, Guysborough County, N.S. and is survived by his children Teresa (Doug) Morton, Jim (Nicolette), Anita Cassell, Linda Ritchie, and his grandchildren Jon, Cole, Danielle, Sam and Jessie. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Marcella McDonald. Also left to honor his memory are his siblings Frances Luddington and Charles Ross as well as sister-in-law Elizabeth Butler and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home. Private visitation by personal request. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Mt. Ryan. Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a veterans tribute service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.
