Peacefully, at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, July 26, 2012, of Donald J. Gillman of Stratford, age 86 years. Beloved husband of June. Loving father of Sylvia (Bev) Deveaux, Robbie (Tracy), Roy (Angie), Darlene (Gabe) Denise, Linda (the late Walter) Kalmuk, Julie (Brad) Cannons and Cheryl Gillman (Justin Simmonds). Grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Brian James "Jim" Hatcher

Peacefully, at the Atlantic Baptist Home, on Sunday, April 28, 2013, of Brian James “Jim” Hatcher of Charlottetown, age 87 years. Veteran of the Second World War.
Beloved husband of 60 years of Margaret (nee Poole). Loving father of Brent (Maulyn), and Colleen. Grandfather of Tyler Gallant (Christine Murnaghan). Brother of Marjorie Fear and Sylvia (predeceased) and brother-in-law of Jean Clow and George Poole. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment in Lower Montague Cemetery.

Courtney E. Head

1919 - 2016

Courtney Edmund Head, a resident of The Mount Continuing Care Community in Charlottetown, left us peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the age of 97 years. Courtney was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn (Dubé) in 2002 after 57 years of marriage. He is survived and will be missed by his family: Melford (Jeannette) of Calgary AB, Anne (Leo) Gillis of Moncton NB, Melvin (Martine) of Ancaster ON, Evelyn (Eric) Weeks of Pleasant Valley, PE and Michael (Sharron) of Brantford ON. His is also survived by ten grand children: Lisa (George), Jennifer (Chad), Kevin (Janelle), Lana (Kevin), Marieke (Anthony), Ryan (Erin), Colin (Carolyn), Pieter (Heather), Erika (Dan) and Lukas (Tong Tong) as well as eight great grand-children: Rylan, Edward, Simon, Sam, Kenley, Martin, Oliver, and Amelia. Also, part of his life since 2005, is his good friend Shirley Horne. 

The RCAF Wing Association Charlottetown and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 1 will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at The Mount Continuing Care Community (141 Mount Edward Rd in Charlottetown) on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm, to be followed by a Celebration of Life.

John Leonard Hegarty

1924 - 2010
Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, February 12, 2010, of Johnny Hegarty of the Garden Home and formerly of Fort Augustus, age 86 Yrs. Loving brother of Winnie McInnis, Fran Barker, Bernadette Murphy and Tom Hegarty (Betty). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Bernadette (Dunphy) Hegarty; brothers - Joe, Bob, Jim and George Hegarty; sisters-in-law - Lois and Etta Hegarty; brothers-in-law - Duncan McInnis, Norm Barker and Maurice Murphy.

Family will receive friends and acquaintances at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford on Monday, February 15, 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 16, at St. Patrick’s Church, Fort Augustus at 10:30 A.M. Interment to follow later in the church cemetery. 

As an expression of sympathy , memorial donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 Charlottteown will hold a Service of Remembrance at the Hillsboro Funeral Home on Mon 15 Feb 2010 at 7PM.

(Lt Col Ret) of Charlottetown, age 91 years, a gentle man and a gentleman.  Beloved husband of Shirley.  Dear father of Pam (David) Ing, Bill (Ruby), Tim (Liz), and Alan (Susan).  Grandfather to Chris, Andrew, Trevor, Craig, Eric, Brian, Jeff and Alexander.  Great grandfather of Avery, Terrin, Nathaniel, Brenna, Gabriel, Elias, Eowyn, Amadeus and Tyler.

George Howard Hood

Peacefully at home on Thursday, August 13, 2009 of Mr. George Howard Hood of Cherry Drive, Sherwood, age 85. Beloved husband of the late Priscilla (nee Kent) Hood. 

Dear father of Gerald (Margaret) of Cornwall, Dr. Gregg (Lois) of Rocky Point, Keith (Louise) of Calgary, AB, Dana (Wendy) of Kentville, NS, Ricky (Deborah) of Charlottetown, Carmel (Donald) of Moncton, NB, Lorel of Toronto, ON, and Rob (Rhalda) of Sherwood. 

Cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Rowland of Halifax, NS. 

He was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Euphemia, stepmother Louise, brothers Ernest, Donald and Robert, and grandson Jason. Resting at the Charlottetown Funeral Home until 9:45 Monday morning, then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at The Roman Catholic Cemetery.

James Oswald Hornby

1916 - 2011
At the P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Thursday, June 9, 2011 with family at his side, of James Oswald Hornby of Charlottetown, age 95 years. 

Predeceased by his parents, John and May Camilla (Hornsby) Hornby, and siblings Kathleen, Helen, Edward, Eleanor, Marguerite, Camilla and Ena. Veteran of the Second World War, he flew Wellington bombers in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Squadron 407, and after the war flew commercially with Maritime Central Airways and Eastern Provincial Airways. 

He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Jean (MacPhee), and children Jim, Brian (Laura Lee), Susan and Jeff, grandchildren Jessie Hornby, Devin Hornby, Sarah Hornby, Keith Baglole, Sebastian Baglole, Eric Hornby, Brendan Hornby, and special friends Susan Sherwood and Harry Baglole. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home for visitation on Monday, June 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Charlottetown on Tuesday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.

The death occurred at his late residence on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 of Mr. Francis Joseph “Unk” Hughes of Wedgewood Avenue, Charlottetown, Veteran of World War II, age 83 years. Special friend of Bella Cook. Father of Maurice “Moe" (Ann) of East Royalty, Heather (Frank) Robison, of Charlottetown, Frank (Theresa) of Elmwood, Joanie (Moe) Acorn of Charlottetown, Barb (Bernie) Dowling of East Royalty, and Mike Hughes of Charlottetown. 

He will also be lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Doris MacCallum and Ruth (Maurice) DeCoste, and brother Reggie (Marg) Hughes, as well as extended family, Doug (Shirley) Cook, Dale (Terri) Cook, Danny (Lorna) Cook, Debbie (David) Myers, Darlene (Kenny) Myers, Darla Jenkins and Shane Lafferty. 

He was predeceased by his wife Joan, grandson Joey Robison, great-grandson Austin, sister Mary McTague, brothers Maurice and Richard. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 Friday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in The Roman Catholic Cemetery.
