Daniel (Dan) M. Morris

1938 - 2011
The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 of Mr. Daniel “Dan” M. Morris, of Charlottetown and formerly of Souris, aged 72 years. 

Beloved husband of Diane (nee Emond), and loving father of Danny (Linda) Duquette. 

He was predeceased by his stepchildren Larry, Carol Ann and Roy Duquette, his parents Finbar and Florence (MacDonald) Morris, and brother Hubert “PeeWee” Morris. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 on Saturday morning then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m. 

Interment to follow in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. 

If so desired, memorials in Dan’s memory may be made to Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home.

At Whisperwood Villa on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 of Albert Curtis Muncey of Charlottetown, formerly of South Milton and Moncton, age 96 years. Father of Reg (Vera, deceased), Jacqueline Allain (Leo), Gordon (Heather), Susan Ford (David, deceased) and Scott. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Traci, Kim, Rhonda, Sheri, Christine, Marc, Steven, Alan, Matthew, Dylan, by his fourteen great-grandchildren and by his three great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Roberta (MacLean), granddaughter Michelle Allain, siblings Mildred MacLatchy (Ingram), Phyllis Trenholm (Carman), Ruby Campbell (Donald) and Reginald (WWII K.I.A). Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where a private funeral service will be held. Interment in Sherwood Cemetery. No visiting hours by request. Memorials may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (PEI). A Veteran’s Tribute Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Leaman Lewis Murl

1922 - 2009
At The Prince Edward Island Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown on Friday, February 6, 2009 of Mr. Leaman Lewis Murl of Charlottetown aged 86 years.

Beloved husband of Vera Murl (nee O'Brien) and loving father of Brenda (Joe)Gallant, Douglas, Jack (Rhonda), Ray, David (Darlene) Perry and step-father to Howard (Vera) O'Brien. Leaman will also be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Darren, Janaya, Douglas, Trevor, John, Tamara and great grandchildren, Ethan and Josie.

Resting at The Charlottetown Funeral Home, 33/35 Longworth Avenue from where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Henry Tye officiating. Interment later in the spring in the family plot at Freetown United Church Cemetery.

Loving grandfather of Kerry, Ray, Daryl, Sean, Chris, Erin, Lori, Ryan and Aaron. Lovingly remembered by his great-grandchildren, Sam, Robert, Elizabeth, Emily, Katie, Chelsey, Zoe, Finn, Kole, Brady, Haley and Brianna. Brother of Frank (Delta) and Joyce Clory. Predeceased by his wife, Diane (nee Gorveatt); by his grandson, Darin; and by his sisters, Mary, Rosella, Sheila and Helen. Peacefully at the Peel Manor Nursing Home, Brampton, Ontario on Friday, September 26, 2008 of Mr. Gordon T. Mutch age 88 years. Dear brother of Keith and his friend Hazel. He is also survived by his adopted family, Darla (Julio) Fox and their son, Mason and many cousins. Predeceased by his parents, Hope & Bessie (Tanton) Mutch.

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 of Mr. Joseph “Joe” Myers, of Andrew’s Lodge and formerly of Covehead, in his 87th year. 

Dear father of Marie (Joe) Hynes of Codroy Valley, N.L. and Terry (Kim) Myers of Pleasant Grove. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren Brody, Mathieu, Marcy and Nicole; his sister Caroline “Carrie” Burt of York. 

He was predeceased by his parents William and Katherine (nee Venoit) Myers, sisters and brothers Irene, Irving, Alfred, Jack, Kay, Bernard and Charlie, Maida and Bernie O’Brien. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 2 p.m. Thursday then transferred to St. Eugene’s Church, Covehead for funeral mass at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

Preston Alfred Waldo Neill

1920 - 2012
Peacefully at his late residence, with family by his side, on Sunday, February 19, 2012, of Preston Alfred Waldo Neill of North Milton, age 91 years.  Veteran of WW II.  Devoted and loving husband for 66 years to Elizabeth "Beth" Neill (nee Mountain).  Dear son of the late John R. and Lilla (Seaman) Neill.  He is survived by daughters:  Glenda (Arthur) Masey, Oshawa, Ontario: Sheila (Ross) Harrington, Spring Valley, PE: Sharon (Dale) MacIntosh, North Vancouver, BC and son Therin (Jean) Neill, Milton, PE.  Grandchildren Gwendy Harrington, Bob Harrington, Amanda (Ryan) Windsor, Steven MacIntosh (Sydney Gudmundson), Janna (Johan) VanWalderveen, Angela Neill (Chad MacDonald), Jeffery Neill (Chelsea MacGregor).  Special grandchildren: Terri (Tyler) Mason and Steven Clarke, Pam and Art Jr. Masey.   Great-grandchildren: Emily and Nathan VanWalderveen, MacKenzie, Alex and Charli Mason, Chloe and Jason Lechance.  Also survived by sisters-in-law: Hattie (late James) Johnston, Summerside, PE; Blanche (late Keith) Bowness, Alberton, PE and several nieces and nephews.  He  was predeceased by his daughter Tracey Dawn Neill, sisters: Rena (late Peter) MacCaull, Violet Norrie-Bruce (late Earle Norrie and late Arnold Bruce), Rosamond (Late David) Pattie and Orva Neill, and brother Irving (late Mary) Neill.  Also predeceased by sister-in-law Lila (late Ralph) Squarebriggs and Muriel (late Jack) Nisbet.  Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.  Interment in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, North Milton.  Visitation on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation , Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, June 10, 2019 of Theresa O’Brien of Charlottetown, age 76 years. Loving sister of Evelyn O’Brien and Gerri Mitchell. She was predeceased by her parents John R. and Ethel (nee Conahan) O’Brien; sisters, Mary Sheehan, Lila Stewart and Pauline DeCoursey; brothers, Bernard, Raymond, Neil, Herbert, Donald, George and Paul O’Brien. At Beach Grove Home on Monday, January 2, 2012 of Eric Reginald O’Hanley, of Winsloe, age 81 years.  Dear father of Pat Coulson (Earl), Summerside;  Allen (Karen), Ottawa;  David (Judy), Charlottetown;  Dennis (Karen), Kingston, ON and Paul (Sasha), Kingston, PE.   Loving grandfather to Hannah, Justin, Katelyn, Trent, Ryan, Graeme, Patrick and Alexander.   Predeceased by his wife Anna Rosemary "Jill"  (nee Mair), by his parents Percy and Maude (Buffet) O’Hanley, by his sister Joyce and by his brothers Percy, Claude and David.  Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 10 a.m.  Private family interment later in St. David’s United Church Cemetery, Georgetown.  No visitation by personal request.  Family and friends are invited to a reception at the funeral home immediately following the service .  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of PEI . 

Joseph Richard "Joe" Paquet

1923 - 2011
The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 of Mr. Joseph R. "Joe" Paquet, of Andrews of Stratford and formerly of Sherwood, aged 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Vernita (nee MacKenzie) Paquet. 

Dear father of Nancy (Pat) Callaghan, Anne Stevenson, and Martha (David) Godkin. Joe is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jeffery and Matthew Callaghan, Brian and Andrew Stevenson, Sarah and Jeremy Godkin, great-grandchildren Jillian and Cohen, brothers Louis (Ida) of Montreal, Elmer (Anita) of Charlottetown, James (Mary) of Charlottetown, Gerard (Valerie) of St. John, sister Peggy (Clark) Gallant of Stanhope, and sister-in-law Eileen of Stratford. 

He was predeceased by his brothers Edward and John. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 on Friday morning, then transfered to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.

Joyce Gwendyl Paynter (nee Andrews)

1926 - 2019
WWII Veteran Joyce Gwendyl Paynter (nee Andrews) of Charlottetown, formally of French River, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Whisperwood Villa, on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the age of 93. Loving mother of Gary (Doreen), Sandra (Rendle) Gauthier, Robert (Isabel) and Derrick (Jean). A devoted grandmother to Cynthia, Cheryl, Steven, Gregory, Christina, Brent, David and Jillian. Great grandmother of Cassandra, Ashley, Alyssa, Kylie, Karina and Lena. Sister of Donald Andrews (Joyce deceased). Predeceased by her husband, Arthur "Art" Elwood, brother and sister-in-law Ted Andrews (Betty), Ontario, sister Marjorie Kelly, England and her parents William and Ethel Andrews. Survived by brother-in-law Cyril Gray, Mississauga Ontario. Originally from Leicester, England, Joyce was a proud veteran and British war bride. She was a private in the Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Women's Army Corps assigned to the 43rd company out of Canada's military headquarters in London during the Second World War. She married Arthur Paynter in 1943 while volunteering with the British Red Cross and without yet setting foot on Canadian soil enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces. She came to PEI via the Ile de France troop ship through Pier 21 in Halifax in 1945. Art and Joyce settled in French River where they farmed and were lighthouse keepers of the Cape Tryon lighthouse until Art's health issues took them to Charlottetown. Art and Joyce worked as a houseparent team at the Sherwood Home until Art's passing in 1970. As a very young widow, Joyce devoted the remainder of her life to providing for her family and her community. She was a loyal and decorated member of The Royal Canadian Legion, being a member since 1962. She was a member of the Branch "Sick and Visiting Committee" for 12 years. An advocate for ex-service women, her efforts earned women the right to parade back to the Branch upon conclusion of the Remembrance Day ceremony and established a number of other firsts for female Veterans. Joyce became the first woman to serve as Honorary President of Branch No. 1 and of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Command. She has been associated with several community organizations, including the Poppy Campaign, Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross, 4-H, the Women's Institute, the Mentally and Physically Challenged and the Prince Edward Island Addiction Foundation, through which she helped form an Auxiliary for the Alcoholism Treatment Centre, Past President of the Women's Auxiliary for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, an Assistant Director of Local 19 of the Prince Edward Island Government Retirees, Founding member of Big Brothers on PEI and a member of the Seniors Active Living Centre. She received the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation medal in 2002 in honor of her contributions to the care and well-being of veterans and also for her own sacrifices as a veteran. Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home for visiting hours Friday, August 2, 2019, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, then transferred to Zion Presbyterian Church for service on Saturday, August 3, at 10am. Interment in Geddes Memorial Church Cemetery, Springbrook, PEI. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Veterans Memorial Charity Fund or CNIB, PEI Chapter would be appreciated. The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, January 2, 2011 of Mr. J. Edward Pendergast RCN (veteran of the Second World War) of Charlottetown and formerly of Kensington, P.E.I. and Riverview, N.B. in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Donalda (nee MacDonald) Pendergast and dear father of John Pendergast of Halifax, N.S., Liz Pendergast (Paul Shaw) of Stratford, Donald Pendergast of Charlottetown and Katherine Pendegast (Donnie Arsenault) of Egmont Bay. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren Jared, Erin, Madeline, Emily and Robyn; brothers and sisters, Patricia Stanyer of Richmond, B.C., Austin (Ethel) Pendergast of Darnley, Tom (Sheilgh) Pendergast of North Bay, Ont., Eugene "Casey" Pendergast of Bedford, N.S., Frances (Tom) McSwiggan of Ottawa, Ont. and Fr. Arthur Pendergast of Palmer Road; sister-in-law, Eileen Pendergast of St. Louis, P.E.I. He was predeceased by his parents James and Gertrude (nee Cullen) Pendergast; infant son, Fraser; twin sister, Mary and brothers, Reg and Bill.
