Peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Home on Sunday, August 2, 2015 of John N. Thistle of Charlottetown, age 92 years.
Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Griffin) Thistle and dear father of Margaret Anne (Allie) Wooldridge, Mary Ellen (Ron) MacDonald, Myles (Leah) Thistle and John Jr. (Deceased) (Cindy). Loving Grampy of 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mary Long (Jack deceased), Celia “Sis” (Junior) Dowling, Joe (Sylvia) Thistle and Mark (Betty) Thistle. John was also predeceased by his his parents, James and Melina (Arsenault) Thistle, brother, Claude, and sister, Lillian.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Wednesday, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Charlottetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.

Peacefully surrounded by his family at the PEI Atlantic Baptist Home on Monday, June 18, 2018 of Joseph R. "Joe" Thistle of Charlottetown age 87 years. Dear father of Betty (Allison dec.) McNally, Judy (Ted) Lawlor, Debbie (Alan) Thompson, Robert (Lorna) and Rick (Janice). Loving Grampy Joe to Wayde, Randy, and David McNally, Craig and Brad Lawlor, Curtis and Keith Thompson, Justin, Brent and Kyle Thistle, Trevor Thistle and Emily Baker and great grampy to 20 great grandchildren. Brother of Mary Long (Jack dec.), Cecelia "Sis" (Jr. dec.) Dowling, Mark (Betty) Thistle and brother-in-law of Virginia Thistle and Mary Chandler. Joe was also predeceased by his siblings, John (Evelyn), Lillian (Luke) and Claude. Lt. Col. Charles Dugald Thomas

Peacefully and surrounded by his family and friends at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, January 27, 2014, of Lt. Col. (Ret'd) Charles Thomas of Stratford, age 59 years.
Beloved husband of Debbie Thomas (nee Martin) and loving father of Michael Thomas (Nancy) and Laurie Brehaut (Ryan). Charles is also survived by his beloved grandchildren - Noah, Reeve and Charley Grace Brehaut; siblings - Albert Thomas (Theresa), Mary Thomas, Cathy Doyle (Barry), Scott Thomas, Frances Ford (Wayne); mother-in-law, Lucinda (Dickie) Martin; and brothers-in-law, Barry Martin (Sharleen), Clayton Martin (Sherry), Donald Martin (Lorraine Buell).
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Lorraine Thomas and father-in-law, Lloyd Martin.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, for visitation on Thursday, January 30, 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Queen Charlotte Armouries on Friday, January 31 at 5 p.m. Interment will be later in West Covehead United Church Cemetery.

John James (Johnny) Thompson

1924 - 2017
Veteran of WW ll
 
John James 'Johnny' Thompson, age 93 of Sherwood, originally St Peter's Bay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7th, with his family by his side. 

He was a proud veteran of World War ll and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Charlottetown. He was a member of the Royal Regina Rifles, 7th Brigade, 3rd Division. 

After returning to the Island, he married and began working with the PEI Department of Highways, where he retired as Kings County Engineer in 1984. 

Johnny was a volunteer and a participant in local activities including the Speed skating Association of PEI, St. John’s Ambulance, and the local hockey scene; he spent endless hours supporting his children in their activities. He was an avid horseman, a respected member of the PEI harness racing community for 45 years. He loved being at the track. He also loved to fish, hunt, travel and enjoyed camping vacations with family. 

He is survived by his wife Marie (nee O'Brien), sons Alan (Laurie) and Brian (Janice), daughters Anne (Duncan), Jane (Ned) and Sheila (John), grandchildren Josh, Duncan, Sean, Andrew, Sarah, Anne Marie, Molly, Isabella and Oliver, as well as his sister Mary Jay. 

Born April 8,1924, he was the son of the late Harry and Veronica Thompson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Henry, Harold, Jerome, Wilfred, and Joseph. 

Johnny touched many lives in the course of his life; he loved his family immeasurably, he lived every day, and he will be greatly missed. 

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, visitation will be Sunday, November 12,2017 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Pius X Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 13th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charlottetown Branch#1 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Joy Christine Toole

Peacefully, surrounded by family, at Beach Grove Home on Sunday, December 23, 2012, of Mrs. Joy C. Toole (nee Simpson) of Charlottetown, age 88 years.
Beloved wife of the late J. Charles Toole and dear mother of Bernadette Toole (Ronnie Crockett), Barbara (Albert) Richards, and Carolyn (Jim) Molyneaux. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren Mark, Jennifer, Lori Ann and Michelle; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Toole and sister-in-law Eileen McNamara. She was predeceased by her son David Toole.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until 12:45 Friday afternoon then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 1 p.m. Interment later in the family plot in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.

Elsie Mary Travers (Nee Shand)

Peacefully at the P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Home on Saturday, May 16, 2015 of Elsie Mary Travers of Charlottetown in her 95th year.

Elsie was a veteran of the World War II having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Beloved wife of the late Grant Travers and dear mother of Jack Travers And Sally (Paul) Shanahan. Loving Grammy to Sara Shanahan (Mitchell Matheson). Along with her husband Grant, Elsie was also predeceased by her parents Bill and Sarah Shand and her brother Jack Shand.

Elsie’s family would like to thank the staff of Andrews of Stratford, P.E.I. Atlantic Baptist Home, Dr. Brodie Lantz and Dr. Tim Stoltz . Their care was second to none.

Raymond "Bud" Wakelin

1930 - 2014
Peacefully with his family at his side at Whisperwood Villa on Monday, April 21, 2014 of Mr. Raymond "Bud" Wakelin of East Royalty , Veteran of the Korean War, in his 84th year.

Beloved husband of Matilda (nee Stewart) and dear father of Peggy (Paul) Lavigueur and Robert (Laura Lee) Wakelin. Loving Grampy of April Laviguer, Jennifer and Ryan Wakelin. Brother-in-law of Cecil and Stella Stewart, Johnny Matheson and Stella Wakelin. Bud is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being predeceased by his parents, Braymond and Eva Wakelin, brother Harry Wakelin and sisters Ruby Jay, Elsie Matheson and Joyce Maye.

Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in the People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Charlottetown Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a service of Remembrance at 4:45 PM on Wednesday 23 April.

Walter "Wally" Robert Gordon Walkden

The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown on Monday, March 11, 2013, of Walter Walkden, beloved husband of Shirley Walkden (nee Herold), of Anglo Rustico, age 76. 
Walter was the loving father of Scott Rogers, Brent Rogers, Denise Pottey and Rickey, Brian, James and Joseph Walkden. He was known as Grumpy or Bump to his five granddaughters and three grandsons. Walter was born to Christine and Walter Walkden (both predeceased) on August 5, 1936. He joined the navy at age 18 and enjoyed his 28 year career of a naval weapons technician as an east coast sailor, sailing several of Her Majesty's Canadian Naval ships. Upon retirement and for the next ten years, he continued his service to the Canadian Forces by founding WalMar Atlantic, with his partner, Frank Meagher, and providing chandelling services for the ships. In 1995, he and his wife took up residence in Anglo Rustico, P.E.I., and for 17 years he never felt so blessed and at home. He was "from away", but was always made to feel at home here on the Island.

J. Howard Walker

Peacefully at The Prince Edward Home on Sunday, January 12, 2014 of J. Howard Walker of Bunbury, age 89 years. Beloved husband of Priscilla (nee Griffith). Loving father of Andy (Angela), Valerie Fall and Darryl (Daniel Murphy). Grampie of April, Alex, Amber and Ashley Walker and Cody Fall. Predeceased by his parents Chester and Blanche (Stewart) Walker.

James Wilfred Ward

Peacefully at the Beach Grove Home on Sunday, May 13, 2012 of Mr. James Wilfred Ward of Charlottetown, age 88 years. 

Beloved husband of the late Margaret Corrine (nee Walker) Ward, and dear father of David Brian, Robbin Wayne and Paula Suzanne. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Margurite Ward, Mary Florence Gaudet, Mildred Bennett Trainor, Priscilla Jean Richard and Elizabeth Anne Mulligan. He was also predeceased by his son Alan James. 

James was particularly proud of his service in the Navy during World War II, then as a naval photographer on various aircraft carriers after the war, retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer at the age of 42. James then went on to an over 20 year career serving the Government of Prince Edward Island in Parks and Tourism.
